"Dell customizes the Nvidia drivers for your exact motherboard." I'm not sure this is true anymore for NVIDIA drivers since I haven't compared them recently. I don't understand why someone who is volunteering their time supposedly to help others would continue knowingly spreading incorrect information, but she does, so I would not consider her a reliable Area- You mean what's wrong with the particular Mary G in this particular thread? Well let's break it down: She also repeatedly spreads a wide range of other incorrect information, especially with respect to the types of displays that can be run by laptop GPUs - and unfortunately she continues to make the same claims even after she's been given multiple forms of clear evidence that her claims are very outdated and thus completely wrong for the systems discussed in threads here these days.
Mary G makes the claim she posted here in all sorts of threads around this forum. When it comes to Intel GPU drivers, sometimes the direct-from-Intel version won't even install on the laptop (though you can force the install with Device Manager), but I've never had a problem with NVIDIA.
I've used NVIDIA drivers on all of my laptops that have NVIDIA GPUs over the last 15 or so years and have never once had a problem.
